Compensation Range: $17-20 hourly

Job Description

The Cook prepares food following federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and policies, under the direction of the Director of Dietary Services and/or Clinical Nutritionist, ensuring quality food service at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Review menus before food preparation.
  • Inspect special diet trays to ensure correct diets are served.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as forms and reports for the Director of Dietary Services.
  • Coordinate dietary services with other departments.
  • Work with the clinical nutritionist and dietitian, implementing recommended changes.
  • Follow all food procedures per policies.
  • Assist in establishing food service production lines to ensure timely meal preparation.
  • Process diet changes and new diets from the Nursing Department.
  • Participate in departmental studies and projects as needed.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and in-services.
  • Prepare meals per planned menus, ensuring palatability and proper portioning.
  • Handle special diets and standardized recipes.
  • Ensure meals are ready at designated times.
  • Oversee dishwashing and garbage removal.
  • Store and rotate food supplies properly.
  • Know the day’s menu before meal service; greet and serve customers respectfully.
  • Inspect diet trays for accuracy.
  • Serve nutritional snacks and ensure proper utensils and equipment are provided.
  • Assist in reviewing treatment plans to meet dietary needs.
  • Prepare and serve substitute foods for patients refusing certain foods.

This is a full-time position working Fridays 2 pm-6 pm and Saturdays-Mondays 6 am-6:30 pm.

Qualifications
