Job summary

Scripps Mercy San Diego is hiring for a fully benefitted, part-time Food Service role at the Hillcrest campus. The position requires a varied shift pattern including mornings, evenings and weekends, with 40 hours every two weeks.

Join our Cook team coordinating patient meals, cafeteria service and special events, in a safety‑driven healthcare environment. Ideal candidates have 6 months of quantity food prep or a culinary program, plus a Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience in quantity food preparation or graduation from an approved culinary program
• Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate or able to pass Food Handlers Test
• Experience in quantity food preparation in healthcare (preferred)
• ServSafe Certificate (preferred)
• Formal culinary/quantity cooking education (preferred)

Education

6 months of experience in quantity food preparation or graduation from an approved culinary program

Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate or able to pass Food Handlers Test

This is a fully benefitted part-time position working 40 hours every two weeks, located at our Scripps Mercy campus in Hillcrest. Must be available to work a varied shift (start time will be dependent upon the department's need and will include both morning and evening shifts) and varied schedule including weekends.

Our Cook team coordinates, preps a volume production of meals for patients, cafeteria, catering/special events. Performs job functions to support the following Food Service operational systems; safe food handling, volume food production, menu development and modification, meal assembly and portion control, inventory management and infection control/sanitation. Follows established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with food and safety regulatory requirement

Qualifications
