Responsibilities

  • Prepare delicious, high quality meals for residents, employees, and special events.
  • Follow planned menus, standardized recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements.
  • Prepare alternative menu items to meet residents' dietary needs and food preferences.
  • Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and served safely using proper food handling and sanitation practices.
  • Maintain appropriate food temperatures during preparation and service.
  • Label, date, and properly store food according to food safety guidelines.
  • Help ensure meals and snacks are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Monitor and record food, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen throughout each shift.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report equipment concerns promptly.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies.
  • Help minimize food waste by using supplies efficiently and following portion guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Culinary Director and fellow team members to provide exceptional dining experiences.
  • Interact professionally and compassionately with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Follow all federal, state, facility, and company food safety regulations and standards.

What You'll Do

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Licenses/Certifications
  • Food Handler's Permit (if required by Oregon regulations)
Experience
  • Six months of experience in large quantity food preparation preferred
  • Experience preparing therapeutic diets preferred
  • Experience in long term care, skilled nursing, or senior living preferred but not required
