We are currently hiring a Per-Diem Cook for Dietary and Food Services at Fremont Hospital!

If you have the desire to pursue a career in healthcare and provide compassionate care, we want to hear from you!

The Cook provides support critical to the successful operation of the hospital and is responsible for the preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and dinner for patients and facility staff according to the approved diet manual and production sheets. Responsibilities include overseeing the successful and safe operation of the kitchen and its staff to ensure meals are prepared and served on time. The kitchen also provides on-unit snacks and maintains par levels. Proper safe food handling and kitchen safety protocols must always be followed and monitored for compliance by staff.

Fremont Hospital is a fully accredited, 148-bed private inpatient psychiatric hospital providing quality care for children through adults. The facility offers assessments, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient psychiatric treatment, and chemical dependency outpatient care.

Commuting to Fremont Hospital is easy! It is conveniently located near public transportation options such as AC Transit, BART, and the ACE Train.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• At least two (2) years of experience in quantity cooking, with a basic knowledge of modified diets.
• Training in food service, safe food handling, and sanitation.
• Experience with industrial kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Some prior supervisory experience in a kitchen is helpful.

Additional Requirements:

• May require ServSafe certification.
• May require successful completion of Fremont Hospital’s non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 90 days of employment.
• May require working overtime and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
• Ability to lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
