Job description

Join to apply for the Cook - (Per Diem) role at Mozaic Senior Life

Perform diversified duties to prepare, cook, and portion servings of meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, and soups; prepare salads and desserts.

Reports To: Director of Dining Services, Assistant Director of Dining Services, Executive Chef, Sous Chef

Hours Per Week: Per Diem

Available To Work: Must be available to work weekdays and every other weekend

Duties
  • Provide efficient and attractive food service for all residents/patients, regardless of diet requirements.
  • Plan cooking schedules to ensure optimal flavor, texture, and temperature while serving in a timely manner.
  • Prepare food according to MSL standardized recipes; test cooked foods by taste and smell to ensure proper cooking and seasoning.
  • Assist on the serving line.
  • Detect and report defective equipment, substandard, or spoiled foodstuffs to the Director, Assistant Director, Manager, or Chef.
  • Follow established safety regulations; maintain equipment and work area in a clean, sanitized, and orderly condition per Dining Services sanitation standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; culinary degree preferred.
  • 2 years experience in the Food Service industry or a combination of 1 year experience and 1 year culinary training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple demands and deadlines.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to operate various culinary machines to fulfill responsibilities.
