Job summary

Vista Senior Living Management operates the Eden Vista Prospect Heights site, part of its senior living network. We are seeking a part-time cook to join the kitchen team and support daily meal service for residents.

The role involves early shifts (5am-1:30pm or 11am-7pm, including Mondays and Fridays) and requires experience, culinary knowledge, and a commitment to sanitation and teamwork. Training will emphasize resident well-being and nutritious menu execution.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; culinary school preferred.
• Proven experience as a cook.
• Experience with cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
• Knowledge of cooking procedures (grilling, baking, boiling).
• Strong sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate well.
• Excellent physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat).
• Cook food with various utensils or grillers.
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before serving.
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Check the quality of ingredients.
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.
