Vista Senior Living Management is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare and present meals for residents in a senior living setting. The role requires efficiency in a fast-paced kitchen, adherence to sanitation standards, and collaboration with staff.

The ideal candidate has proven cooking experience, good communication, and physical stamina to maintain a busy kitchen and support residents with nutritious meals.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a cook.
• Experience using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware.
• Knowledge of cooking procedures (grilling, baking, boiling).
• Ability to follow sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent physical condition and stamina.
• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school diploma is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking (peel, chop, trim).
• Cook food using various utensils or grillers.
• Monitor food during cooking and stir/turn as needed.
• Present dishes attractively before serving.
• Serve meals to residents.
• Maintain sanitized, orderly kitchen environment.
• Store food and other items properly.
• Check ingredient quality.
• Monitor stock and place orders when shortages occur.

Position: Cook (Part-Time)

Wage: $20.00–$21.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Every other weekend: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Two additional weekdays (flexible): 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Responsibilities:

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Cook food in various utensils or grillers
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Serve meals to residents
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
