Job summary

Ecumen North Branch is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare and serve meals, accommodating residents’ dietary needs while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen. The role supports our senior living community with compassionate service and adherence to policies.

Schedule features 11am-7pm shifts, 45 hours bi-weekly, and every other weekend and holiday rotation. Compensation ranges from $20.64 to $22.08 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package based on scheduled hours.

Qualifications

  • Must be 17 years of age or older.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provides exemplary service to residents, families and guests.
  • Preps, prepares, cooks and serves meals; operates and maintains kitchen equipment; reports shortages.
  • Follows recipes and production guidelines, portion control and leftovers management.
  • Maintains inventory of food and supplies; notifies supervisor if missing.
  • Keeps work area clean, sanitary, and compliant with regulations.
  • Assists with stocking groceries and ensuring fresh inventory.
  • Coordinates with department leaders for events ensuring adequate product and labor.
  • Ensures residents with special diets receive appropriate food and prompt accommodations.
  • Demonstrates proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Collaborates with others in a dynamic environment; supports the community leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Cook is responsible for proper food prep, cooking and service of food while recognizing special diets, resident's dietary needs and requests. This position maintains work areas in proper order and follows established policies and procedures of the facility while demonstrating high levels of service.

Pay:
  • The targeted pay range for this job is $20.64 to $22.08 per hour.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  1. Provides exemplary service to our residents, families and guests, ensuring all feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service.
  2. Preps, prepares, cooks and serves meals to residents, families, guests and employees. Properly operates and maintains all equipment in the food preparation area. Reports production shortages/overages to the supervisor immediately.
  3. Accurately follows directions and recipes. Ability to convert recipes for various size groups. Follows production guidelines for best product usage, portion control and use of leftovers.
  4. Maintains adequate inventory of food and supplies notifying supervisor if they are missing something.
  5. Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe and efficiently organized work area. Complies with all federal and state regulations.
  6. Assists with stocking and putting away groceries as directed. Products will be labeled, dated and rotated ensuring an adequate, fresh inventory of food and supplies.
  7. Partners with department leaders to maintain awareness of facility special events and activities to ensure adequate product and labor are available.
  8. Ensures residents with special diets receive appropriate food. Accommodates resident requests promptly.
  9. Demonstrates proper safety and sanitation techniques as part of the work.
  10. Partners effectively with others in a demanding and changing environment, supports all employees within the community as directed by the leadership team.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Commercial kitchen experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Previous senior care experience
  • Serv Safe certification or equivalent
  • Certified Food Protection Manager
