Job summary

Caring Healthcare is hiring a Cook for a skilled nursing facility. The Cook will prepare a wide variety of meals for Residents, following recipes and schedules.

They will direct other dietary staff in the absence of the Food Service Director and Assistant Food Service Director. Responsibilities include maintaining sanitary food handling, preparing meals per physician orders, and ensuring meals meet dietary instructions while minimizing waste.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in the English language.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Experience in institutional food handling is preferred.
• Must pass Background Check.
• Must have current Food Handler Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Handle and prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations.
• Prepare palatable and appetizing meals as prescribed for Patients/Residents by the Attending Physician.
• Meet required meal schedules.
• Take necessary measures to avoid food waste.
• Care for dietary equipment and production sheets.
• Follow menus and special diet instructions.
• Communicate with the Food Service Director freely.
• Cooperate with other dietary staff and center personnel.
• Put Customer Service First: ensure residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring atmosphere.
• Perform other duties as requested.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of food for Residents. Prepares food according to recipes and plans cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules. In addition, the Cook performs related duties and cleaning duties, as assigned. The Cook directs other dietary employees in the absence of the Food Service Director and the Assistant Food Service Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES for the COOK

1. The Cook handles and prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations;

2. The Cook prepares palatable and appetizing meals, as prescribed for the Patients/Residents by the Attending Physician;

3. The Cook meets required meal schedules;

4. The Cook takes necessary measures to avoid food waste;

5. The Cook properly cares for dietary equipment and production sheets;

6.The Cook follows menus and special diet instructions;

7. The Cook communicates freely with the Food Service Director;

8. The Cook cooperates with other dietary staff and center personnel;

9. The Cook puts Customer Service First: Ensures that Patients/Residents and their families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights;

10. The Cook performs other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS
