Job summary

Central Union Mission is seeking a Cook II to accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables and soups, and to prepare and portion foods for service. The role includes assisting with food reception, storage, serving at events, and coordinating with volunteers.

The position requires 2–3 years of cooking experience, nonprofit kitchen exposure, strong communication skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in food preparation, cooking and serving.
• 12 months experience in a non-profit or similar environment working independently in a commercial kitchen.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Active driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Commitment to Central Union Mission’s mission and statement of faith; active Christian.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with recipes and standards.
• Ensure quality, freshness, and portion control of all dishes.
• Stock and maintain pantry, line stations, and kitchen equipment.
• Supervise and train volunteers and program participants in food handling.
• Assist with events, catering, and closing duties as needed.
