Job summary

Ohio Department of Youth Services is seeking a Cook at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility in Massillon. You will work under the Food Service Manager, preparing and serving meals, supervising youth workers, and ensuring sanitation and safety standards are met.

This full-time position offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical coverage, dental/vision, paid time off, and training. A drug screen and background check are required prior to hire.

Qualifications

• 6 months training or 6 months exp. in food preparation, sanitation & storage & use of food service equipment in institutional, school or restaurant setting.
• Applicant must list examples of experience in food service.

Responsibilities

• Provide work direction & training to youth workers & youth apprentices in food preparation, sanitation & storage.
• Monitor service lines, loading of carts, storage of foods & general cleaning.
• Work all stations on a rotating basis including cooking, dish washing, serving line, and cleaning floors.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment to cook food.
• Prepare salads, desserts, dressings & breads; hot & cold beverages & special menu foods; slice meat & cheese; make sandwiches; assemble fruit plates & relishes.
• Clean work area, equipment & utensils; ensure safety & sanitation of assigned area.
• Operate cash register; complete daily HAACP paperwork.
• Supervise youth workers; follow safety & security procedures.
• Setup food-line & portions according to dietary requirements.
