Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky's Kentucky Department of Parks seeks a Cook II for the Rowena Landing Restaurant at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in Jamestown, KY. You will prepare menu items, assist with kitchen operations, and uphold high standards for food quality, sanitation, and guest service.

Collaborate with chefs and other departments to deliver exceptional dining experiences throughout the year. This full-time role offers overtime eligibility and comprehensive state benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of cooking experience in an institutional or large-scale commercial setting.
• Vocational training in food services substitutes for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
• No formal education required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and coordinates daily cooking, kitchen-cleanup, and sanitation duties.
• Performs and leads food preparation, including baking, roasting, broiling, and frying meats, fish, poultry, and other menu items.
• Prepares specialty dishes, made-to-order menu items, banquet meals, and buffet selections.
• Assists Food Service Operations Managers and chefs with maintaining records of food used and supplies on hand.
• Assists with receiving goods, monitoring inventory, and calculating food costs.
• Performs and leads kitchen-cleaning and sanitation duties while following safe food-handling and preparation practices.
• Ensures kitchen equipment and utensils are maintained in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Description

The Kentucky Department of Parks is seeking a motivated culinary professional with a passion for preparingquality food and delivering exceptional guest service as our new Cook II for the Rowena Landing Restaurant atLake Cumberland State Resort Park. Located on beautiful Lake Cumberland, this resort park is one of thepremier lodging and dining facilities in the area. For decades, we have served guests in our 200-seatrestaurant featuring panoramic views of Lake Cumberland.

In this position, you will prepare a variety of menu items, assist with kitchen operations, and help maintainhigh standards for food quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and guest service. You will work closely with chefs,food-service management, front-of-house employees, group sales, and other departments to provide exceptionaldining experiences throughout the year.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: NONE

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of cooking experience in an institutional or large scale commercial setting.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational training in food services will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
