Job summary

The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Kentucky seeks a Cook to support Kentucky’s Veterans. You will perform general cooking duties, prepare specialty dishes, and maintain accurate records of food and supplies in a clean, sanitary kitchen environment.

Position offers a full-time schedule with overtime eligibility, locality premium of $4.88/hour, and shift premiums of 15% for second/third shifts and 25% for weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large-scale setting.
• Vocational training in food service can substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Performing general cooking duties.
• Mixes and cooks specialty dishes and delicate foods.
• Maintains records of food used and supply on hand.
• Maintains dietary work areas, equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Insures proper storage of food.

***This position, in Hopkins county has an approved Locality Premium of $4.88 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034Section 9(1).***

***This job classification is approved for the following shift premiums, in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(2), which are applied to the base salary, 15% on top of base pay for all hours worked on second and third shifts and 25% on topofbase pay for all hours worked on a holiday or weekend.***

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: NONE

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large scale commercial setting.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational training in food service will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
