Job summary

BayCare Health System in Bartow, FL seeks a dedicated Cook to join our food service team at Bartow Medical Center. You will prepare meals using standardized recipes, conduct safety checks, and ensure high quality for patients, cafeteria, and catering.

Requires 4 years cooking experience (2 years with HS diploma or culinary diploma) and ServSafe Manager certification within 1 year. Strong teamwork and organizational skills are essential. This is a full-time, on-site role with weekend shifts.

• Lead production in absence of Executive Chef
• Perform other duties as necessary

Position Details

• Shift: Varies – does include weekends

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation of foods according to the standardized recipes, and production methods.
• Ensures high quality using safe, sanitary food handling techniques during preparation, service and storage and daily quality control checks.
• Works multiple production stations and conducts quality control checks on taste, temperature and presentation on patient, cafeteria, and catering foods.
• Trains and orients selected staff on food production along with safety and sanitation practices.
• Leads production in absence of Executive Chef according to facility.
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Experience

Required: 4 years as a Cook / 2 years with high school Diploma or Culinary Diploma.

Preferred

2 years in Healthcare.

Education

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Certification

Required: ServSafe Manager food safety certification within 1 year of hire.
