Job Overview

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe sanitary work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, as per dupe from servers.
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, ensuring not to prepare more than needed.
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per SOP, ensuring perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line setup.
  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
  • Return unused food items to designated storage, covering and dating perishables.
  • Assist in planning and implementing actions to control food costs, waste, and usage as per SOP.
Qualifications

Education/Formal Training: High school education or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum one-year food service or related work.

Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of cooking practices and kitchen procedures to perform analytical work.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items up to 70 lbs, including food and small equipment, approximately 75% of the time.
  • Periodic climbing required.
  • Bending necessary when using lower ovens, 5-10 times daily.
  • Full mobility and ability to travel 30-50 feet regularly.
  • Continuous standing during prep, service, and expediting.
  • Ability to hear timers and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Ability to see proper food preparation.
  • Understanding and following verbal/written instructions, and communicating verbally and in writing.

Environment: Inside environment during 100% of shift; freezer temperatures at -10°F; front line over 100°F.
