Grade & Wage: $16.00 Per Hour (Non-Exempt)
Status: Full-time (40 hours per week) with benefits, Non-Exempt, Union
Qualifications: Must be able to coordinate preparation of all daily meals of inmates in a correctional setting. Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Prior experience in a correctional facility kitchen is preferred. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
Requirements: Must be able to speak and understand English clearly. Knowledge of health codes, jail standards, food nutritional values, dietary requirements, and principles of preparing hot and cold meals for large groups is required. Ability to prepare quality food, work with others, follow directions, and react calmly in emergencies is essential.
Job Functions: Training and monitoring inmates in food preparation, cleaning, and storage. Ensuring security and control of inmates in the kitchen, and accountability of equipment, food, and supplies. Providing daily food service reports, ensuring sanitation standards, conducting safety checks, assisting with cooking, serving, cleaning, and receiving food supplies.
Physical/Mental Conditions: Ability to record, convey, and present information; explain procedures; follow instructions; cope with physical and mental stress; demonstrate emotional stability; and problem-solve effectively.
