Job summary

Indiana University Health West Hospital is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Services worker for a full-time rotating shift. The role supports meal preparation and safe food service.

You will assist in preparing meals, including therapeutic diets, operate kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean, organized workspace while following safety and health regulations. The position requires physical endurance and the ability to wear protective gear.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must wear protective gear as required by regulations.
• Requires adherence to health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements include reaching, standing long periods, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting up to 80% of the time.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs supervised tasks related to the preparation of food. Meal preparations include regular and therapeutic diets. Utilizes foundational skills of basic cooking techniques, operates kitchen equipment and maintains a clean and organized workspace.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
