Job Description

As a Cook, reporting directly to the Executive Chef/Dining Manager, you will ensure the preparation of quality food in accordance with regulations, supporting the well-being and experience of residents.

Essential Functions
  1. Cook and bake
  2. Assist with serving meals, drinks, and maintaining cleanliness
  3. Support catering, room service, and special events
  4. Take food and drink orders
  5. Sanitize and set tables
  6. Manage food inventories and control costs
  7. Understand resident dining needs
  8. Follow sanitation and safety regulations
  9. Complete daily kitchen and dining room checklists
  10. Follow all departmental policies
  11. Assist with sales and marketing efforts to enhance satisfaction
  12. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; experience considered
  • 2-4 years of culinary experience
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques including baking, sautéing, frying, sauces, and cold food prep
  • Strong knife skills and ability to follow recipes accurately
  • Understanding of proper food handling techniques
  • Current ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks regularly
  • Team-oriented, with strong communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Appreciation for seniors and understanding of aging
  • Basic math skills
Physical Demands

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach, talk, hear, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for individuals with disabilities.
