Position: Cook

Cooks are directly responsible for creating great guest experiences by consistently serving quality food in a timely manner. Responsibilities include receiving and stocking inventory, preparing, cooking, and assembling orders, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and adhering to food safety and quality standards by following standard operating procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

The individual in this position is expected to:

  • Complete all training requirements including:
  • Zaxby's Back of House Development Plan
  • Hands-on stations training
  • Any additional training required by Zax LLC
  • Provide friendly, enthusiastic service to all guests
  • Maintain awareness of current promotions
  • Represent the Zaxby's brand enthusiastically
  • Assist with guest service and front of house operations
  • Prepare menu items according to company standards in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Handle food and beverages following safety regulations and guidelines
  • Operate food preparation and cooking equipment safely
  • Maintain product levels in assigned stations for immediate needs
  • Prepare and cook food items according to standards
  • Assemble and package guest orders accurately
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Keep work areas clean and organized
  • Maintain equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Assist with inventory and storage management
  • Receive and stock incoming inventory deliveries
  • Store food items following safety guidelines
  • Inform management when inventory is needed
  • Clean and organize storage areas
  • Complete tasks with urgency and in a timely manner
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Requirements include:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to work 32 to 40 hours per week

Capability Requirements

Necessary capabilities include:

  • Sitting, standing, and walking continuously
  • Occasional stooping, bending, crouching, or climbing (including ladders)
  • Frequently lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Continuous use of hands and wrists for grasping and manipulation
  • Proficient communication through speech, reading, and writing
  • Effective visual and auditory perception to respond to the environment
  • Working in environments with temperature variations and food allergens
  • Safe operation of restaurant equipment including knives and fryers
