Job summary

Sierra Medical Center in Reno, NV, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a full-time cook to prepare patient meals and staff meals in a hospital setting. Under supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, you will follow recipes, plan portions, and ensure meals are ready on time according to approved menus.

Qualifications

• One to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and uses list to communicate to Director/Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods/supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate
