Essential Job Functions
  • Follow standardized recipes, portioning, menu extensions, and presentation standards.
  • Complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste logs.
  • Taste meals to ensure quality.
  • Monitor food temperatures during preparation and service to meet safety standards.
  • Inspect food products and supplies upon delivery in the absence of the Director of Culinary.
  • Supervise and assist in storage of supplies and food products.
  • Report needs for food, supplies, or equipment, and report equipment issues or unsafe conditions to the Director of Culinary.
  • Comply with health and sanitation regulations and procedures, as verified by audits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Culinary.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience, including batch cooking, family-style restaurants, or short order cooking.
  • Experience in healthcare dietary settings preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioning.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes, diet orders, and work assignments.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including during emergencies.
  • Patience and tolerance towards staff, residents, and families.
Education Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets is a plus.

Physical Demands

The role requires standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, and manipulating various food items and equipment. Ability to work with chemicals and lift/carry 50-75 pounds is necessary.

Additional Information

Location: Fahrney Keedy Senior Living Community

Schedule: Prep Cook 3 days/week, Relief Cook 2 days/week

Shift times: Vary (6a-2:30p, 11:30a-8p), weekend availability required

Salary: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
