City Rescue Mission of Lansing seeks a Cook to prepare meals for 250+ guests, ensuring safety and quality in a busy kitchen. You will follow pre-assigned menus, adapt recipes for large batches, and maintain a clean workspace under pressure.
You will supervise volunteers, manage donations, and help reduce waste while showing compassion and sharing gospel with guests. The role requires ServSafe compliance and a high school diploma.

Food Services Manager
This role is vital to the Success of the City Rescue Mission. The Cook either helps prepare or entirely prepares the dinner for the 250+ guests we serve. The Cook must have an excellent grasp on food safety, multitask well, and be able to maintain a clean and organized workstation under pressure. The Cook must be friendly and encouraging while maintaining policy, food safety requirements, and procedures with consistency and firmness. The Cook must also be able to complete tasks independently and accurately, meeting deadlines every time.
Shift - 9am to 5pm. The Cook may be required to fill additional Food Service shifts that fall before or after standard first shift hours. Holidays and Weekends as Scheduled, Rotation. Full or Part-Time Available.
The Cook will need to be able to consistently work in a noisy and distraction-filled environment. The Cook's task will occasionally require them to work in low temperatures, high temperatures, outdoor elements (e.g. rain, wind, snow), and small/enclosed spaces.
The cook will constantly need to be able to lift 25lbs in all directions and will occasionally need to lift 50lbs in all directions. They will need to be able to complete 3+ hours of physically taxing work without a break and stand or walk for 3+ hours without sitting down. The Cook will need to be able to constantly complete visual scans of indoor/outdoor areas in varying levels of light. They will need to occasionally complete tasks with repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. They will need to be able to constantly communicate clearly with others to exchange information.
