Leech Lake Band Of Ojibwe is seeking a kitchen staff member to prepare and cook food for Elderly participants for daily lunch service. Lead responsibility for kitchen work areas, monitor activities, and participate in food production and delivery for home-delivery and congregate meals.
Follow menus, manage portions, ensure food safety, and report incidents promptly. Requires High School Diploma or GED (preferred), Food Service or delivery experience, and a current ServSafe certification within 6
License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Driver's License, current insurance or be insurable.
Summary: To provide skilled work in preparing and cooking food items for Elderly participants for the daily lunch meal. Assume the lead responsibility for kitchen work area(s), monitor work activities, and participate in a variety of food production and/or food service(s). Log all meals sent out for Home delivery as well as Congregate meals provided daily. To document all food/dry goods products received at the site appointed. Follow all menus as provided, portion control and food safety guidelines, time management expectations, and report/submit all incidents within the work area.
Education Requirements and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) preferred.
Food Service and/or delivery experience preferred.
Possess or obtain a current ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Assist in providing a safe and comfortable workplace.
Use caution while using equipment and safety in the use of cleaning chemicals.
Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of work areas (vehicles included) and equipment.
Receive direction from supervisors.
Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s license.
Good attendance and punctuality a must.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Comply with ALL Health Division, Elderly Nutrition, and Fleet Mgmt policies and procedures.
Good oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.
Supervisory Duties:
Food safety of all other coworkers within the work area(s).
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in the work area.
Provide meals within time frame expectations.
Direct others duties as needed to complete meal services.
Assist as needed or directed.
Attend and/or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
All other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs of force constantly or move objects.
