Cook / Dietary Cook – Nursing Home & Healthcare Food Service
The Franklin County Rehab is hiring an experienced Cook / Dietary Cook to join our dietary and healthcare food service team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Cook, Dietary Cook, Restaurant Cook, Food Service Cook, or experienced food service professional who enjoys preparing quality meals and making a difference in the lives of seniors and residents.
As a Dietary Cook in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, you will prepare fresh, nutritious, and appealing meals for residents while following daily menus, recipes, portion requirements, and special dietary needs. You will work closely with the dietary team to ensure meals are prepared safely, accurately, and on schedule.

What You'll Do
Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to planned menus and standardized recipes
Prepare meals for residents in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting
Follow recipes, menus, portion sizes, and meal schedules
Prepare meals according to special diets, therapeutic diets, and resident dietary requirements
Ensure food is prepared, cooked, held, and served at proper temperatures
Monitor food quality, taste, appearance, freshness, and portion control
Assist with preparation of modified-texture and special-diet meals as directed
Coordinate with the Dietary Manager, dietary staff, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team
Prepare food for regular meals, special events, holidays, and resident celebrations
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area
Follow ServSafe, food safety, sanitation, infection-control, and HACCP practices
Properly label, store, rotate, and maintain food and dietary supplies
Assist with receiving and putting away food deliveries and inventory
Follow all facility and departmental policies and procedures
Support the dietary team with additional food service duties as needed
What We're Looking For
Previous Cook, Dietary Cook, Food Service Cook, Restaurant Cook, or institutional food service experience preferred
Experience in a nursing home, skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, hospital, assisted living, or senior living community is a plus
Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control, and food safety
Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special dietary instructions
Knowledge of sanitation and safe food-handling procedures
ServSafe certification preferred
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Reliable, dependable, and able to work as part of a team
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare dining environment
Ability to meet the physical requirements of a dietary/cooking position
