Job summary

Merced County Community Action is seeking a dedicated Cook/Driver to support daily meal preparation and delivery for a program kitchen. The role combines cooking duties with safe food handling, inventory support, and occasional vehicle deliveries to child development sites.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, readiness to obtain Serve Safe certification within 3 months, and prior institutional kitchen experience. Valid CA driver's license and clean driving record preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Serve Safe certification expected within three months of hire.
• Experience as a cook in an institutional or large kitchen is preferred and demonstrates ability to plan, prepare, and portion meals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparing, cooking and dispensing nutritionally balanced meals.
• Ensure meals are ready at the specified times; follow recipes and adjust portions.
• Deliver meals and supplies to child development sites; drive and maintain vehicle.
• Maintain records, assist with inventory, attend trainings and meetings.
