Job description

We are hiring a Full-Time Cook for the Kiddie Academy of Seattle, an Educational Childcare and Preschool.

Job Description:

Our goal is to serve nutritious, wholesome meals and snacks cooked using as many fresh/local/organic ingredients as practically possible. We are looking for a full-time chef who loves to cook healthy, delicious meals that will appeal to children from toddlers to five years old at our academy.

The cook will have full control and responsibility for planning and preparing meals and snacks in our state-of-the-art kitchen designed for a professional chef.

The position is Monday to Friday with weekends off! Work hours typically start at 7:00 AM and end between 3:00 - 4:00 PM, leaving the evening free.

Essential Functions:

• Plans and prepares snacks and meals according to posted menus and nutrition regulations.
• Determines meal and snack quantities and distributes food to each classroom.
• Removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes of them appropriately.
• Performs weekly inventory of food and supplies; submits a list of needed items to management.
• Orders food and supplies from approved vendors within the budget set by management.
• Checks incoming deliveries for accuracy.
• Ensures compliance with all health, safety, licensing, and nutritional standards; maintains personal hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Keeps the kitchen, appliances, cabinets, and inventory organized and clean.
• Attends staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as required.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of cooking experience.
• Experience in cooking for schools or preschools is a plus.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Training in sanitation, food safety, nutrition, and food preparation.
• Food Handler's Permit as required by WA state.
