Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a part-time Camp Cook at Camp Hidden Lake in Lexington, MS to plan, prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for campers in accordance with ACA standards and schedules. Responsibilities include maintaining kitchen cleanliness, managing inventory, training a Kitchen Assistant, ensuring food is safely prepared and plated, and complying with health regulations.

Requirements: High School diploma, 1 year cooking for large groups, and ability to obtain ServSafe certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of cooking for large groups.
• Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification within 21 days of hire.
• Other state/local certifications or licenses as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of food and oversee Kitchen Assistant staff.
• Ensure enough food is prepared for the number of campers and that meals are timely.
• Cook according to the menu using frying, boiling, broiling, steaming, roasting, and related methods.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen facilities, equipment and dining areas; observe hygiene standards.
• Prepare foods including washing, peeling and portioning; bake breads and pastries as needed.
• Follow health regulations and Accreditation Standards set by the American Camp Association.

Job Details: Job Location: ALM-Camp Hidden Lake - Lexington, MS 39095, Position Type: Part Time less than 20, Salary Range: $12.00 - $12.00 Hourly, Job Category: Food Service, This position is located at Camp Hidden Lake in Lexington , MS.

Schedule :38 biweekly hours.

This position is responsible for Plans, prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner; assigns, instructs and monitors work of Camp Kitchen Assistant.Plans, prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner; assigns, instructs and monitors work of Camp Kitchen Assistant.

Key Responsibilities

• Must follow all Site and Food Service Accreditation Standards set forth by American Camp Association.
• Oversees preparation of food.
• Ensures that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared in a timely manner as scheduled.
• Prepares and cooks food as the menu indicates utilizing frying, boiling, broiling, steaming, roasting of meat, poultry, seafood, fish, vegetables, salads, soups and gravies.
• Cleans, cooks, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods.
• Prepares foods including washing and peeling.
• Bakes breads, pastries, muffins, etc.
• Serves food and beverages in a presentable manner; prepares plates for infants or persons requiring additional assistance.
• Prepares snacks and prepares plates of food for people eating after normal serving hours.
• Assigns, instructs, and monitors work of Kitchen Assistant; ensures meals are prepared as planned.
• Maintains a high degree of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room; ensures that all meals are prepared in a safe manner; ensures all kitchen personnel practice proper personal hygiene; ensures compliance with health regulations.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Some physical requirements of the Camp Cook position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
• Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate cooking equipment and activities are required.
• Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available.
• Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

• High School diploma or equivalent,

• One year experience cooking food for large groups,
• or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification within 21 days of hire
• Applicable state, local and/or program contract certifications or licenses
