Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a part-time cook to plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals in a safe, presentable way. Responsibilities include cooking, cleaning, and managing kitchen inventory while coordinating with donors and vendors.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, at least one year cooking for large groups, and ServSafe certification. A valid VA driver's license is preferred. Schedule: day shift, 25 hours/week.

  • ServSafe certified.
  • Valid State Drivers License (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Cooks and prepares a variety of foods and beverages using kitchen equipment and supplies according to acceptable cooking methods.
  • Ensure enough food is prepared based on the number of people and that it is timely.
  • Maintain inventory of kitchen stock; order, receive and process food purchases; verify invoices.
  • Assist in monitoring volunteers in the kitchen.

About this opportunity

Plans, prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner.

Key responsibilities
  • Cleans, cooks, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods.
  • Ensures that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared in a timely manner as scheduled.
  • Maintains proper supply and orderliness of kitchen stock inventory working with vendors and donors in order to meet the needs of the kitchen; orders, receives, and processes food purchases; verifies that invoices are accurate and submits for further processing.
  • Assists in monitoring work of volunteers working in the kitchen.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to cook, taste, and smell food. Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting. Work is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.

Cook is an essential personnel position requiring attendance during inclement weather and/or emergency events as deemed by the Corps Officer.

Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and one year experience cooking food for large groups,
  • or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • ServSafe certified.
  • Valid State Drivers License. (Preferred)
