Job summary

Laurel Heights Hospital in Atlanta is seeking full-time Cooks to join a 112-bed facility delivering psychiatric care to youth. The role focuses on preparing meals for large volumes, reading recipes, and maintaining high standards of food safety and confidentiality in a fast-paced hospital kitchen.

The ideal applicant has at least 3 years cooking experience, ServSafe certification, a high school diploma, and preferably culinary schooling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience cooking or baking; experience with large quantities.
• Culinary School or Vocational Culinary School preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Hospital Food Service desirable.
• ServSafe Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions.
• Concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic.
• Meet deadlines and finish all food preparation at specified serving time.
• Be flexible in work hours to meet patient and organization operating needs.
• Read and comprehend recipes or instructions on prepackaged products.
• Read, convert and adjust mathematical measurements for recipe adjustments.
• Use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers and dishwashers.
• Work independently in a restricted physical environment for extended periods.
• Perform several tasks concurrently.
• Maintain information as highly confidential.

Laurel Heights Hospital is a 112-bed facility located in Atlanta Ga. We are dedicated to providing youth with compassionate mental health treatment that encourages self-responsibility and personal growth. We provide psychiatric treatment to children and adolescents that present with a broad range of psychiatric, behavioral disorders and autism. A clinically skilled multidisciplinary team works to partner with the youth and family to accomplish their goals in a supportive and therapeutic environment.

The COOKS
