Job summary

Bradford Health Services is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our facility. You will plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals that meet patient and staff dietary needs, while upholding strict food safety standards and timelines.

You will contribute to a safe, compassionate environment and support recovery through nourishing, high-quality meals. This role requires reliability, teamwork, and adherence to facility policies.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, recipes, and dining standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Cook attractive, tasty, and nutritious meals, according to menus and mealtimes.
  • Clean kitchen and equipment per routine cleaning schedule.
  • Obey sanitation and safety rules and complete weekly cleaning duties.
  • Keep a daily record of freezer, cooler, and dishwasher temperatures.
  • Maintain patient diet records in absence of supervisor.
  • Secure meal tickets following each meal.
  • Stock and straighten storerooms, coolers, and freezers as directed.
  • Open and/or close the kitchen in a timely manner; verify equipment is off at night.
  • Attend in-service classes as required.
  • Be polite and courteous to staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Follow production guidelines and production standards as listed in Production Manual.
  • Use leftovers in a creative, wholesome manner.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Store food in a safe manner with proper dating and covering guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients.
  • Work in constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Food Service Director and Dietary General Manager.

As a Cook in our substance abuse treatment facility, you play a vital role in supporting recovery and wellness through nourishing, thoughtfully prepared meals. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving balanced, high-quality dishes that meet the dietary needs of patients and staff. Beyond cooking, you’ll contribute to a safe, supportive environment by ensuring food safety standards are met, accommodating special dietary restrictions, and fostering a sense of comfort and care through the meals you create.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cooking attractive, tasty, and nutritious meals, according to menus, and ready for services at established mealtimes
  • Clean kitchen and equipment as needed or according to routine cleaning schedule
  • Obey all sanitation and safety rules and complete assigned weekly cleaning duties
  • Keep a daily record of freezer, cooler, and dishwasher temperatures.
  • Maintain patient diet records in absence of supervisor

  • Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients
  • Must be able to work in constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Food Service Director and Dietary General Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, recipes, and dining standards

  • Experience working in upscale or fine dining establishments
  • Proficiency in inventory management and cost control software
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergen management
