Job summary

Willow Valley Communities in Lancaster & Willow Street, PA is seeking an experienced, passionate Cook to join our team and help create high-quality meals for our Residents in a welcoming, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of line cook experience in a non-fast food setting.
• Team-oriented attitude with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Read menus and procure food from storage areas using standardized recipes.
• Measure and mix ingredients, adjust recipes as needed.
• Taste test and monitor food temperatures per ServSafe guidelines.
• Prepare and cook a range of items using grilling, baking, roasting, broiling and steaming.
• Monitor quantities and quality during meal service.
• Maintain cleaning schedules and sanitary work areas according to guidelines.
• Operate equipment safely and keep records of food production and ordering in the system.

What You'll Do

• Reads menu, procures food from storage areas and utilizes standardized recipes to prepare food items for the meal period.
• Measures and mixes ingredients accurately. Reviews any modifications to recipes to meet quality standards with Cook 2, Sous Chef or Chef.
• Observes and tests food being cooked by properly taste testing and taking food temperatures using proper ServSafe procedures and guidelines.
• Food preparation and cooking skills include but are not limited to: measuring, washing, peeling, cutting, grilling, baking, roasting, broiling, steaming, carving and portioning foods.
• Monitors food quantities and quality during the meal period in a menu, buffet or display cooking setting.
• Maintains a cleaning schedule to assure work areas are kept clean and sanitary.
• Assures kitchens and related areas are set up and cleaned up using established cleaning guidelines and checklists.
• Practices the proper operation of equipment to ensure personal safety and avoid damage to equipment.
• Responsible to assure proper records are maintained for food production and ordering within the food management system.
• Follow Willow Valley's HACCP plan and all related food safety policies and procedures.
