Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is hiring for a full-time food service cook position at the Texas Civil Commitment Center in Littlefield, TX. The role involves preparing meals per menus and directives, while maintaining safe, sanitary kitchen operations and protecting equipment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, six months of food service experience, a valid food handler’s certificate, and must be 18+.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to pre-planned menus and client needs.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary work area and equipment.
• Keep track of kitchen tools and maintain inventory as directed.
• Prepare foods for special facility events and visitors.
• Instruct clients in safe, hygienic food preparation and service.

What you’ll do:

You’ll be responsible for the preparation of facility meals based on pre-planned menus in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Civil Commitment Office (TCCO) directives.

Essential functions:

• Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of clients.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.
• Maintain accountability of kitchen tools.
• Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors.
• Assist in instructing clients assigned to food services in the safe, hygienic method of preparing and serving appetizing appealing meals.

Minimum requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• Six (6) months’ experience in food service preparation required. Correctional, commercial, or institutional food service experience preferred.
• Must have valid food handler’s certificate.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• A valid driver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
