About This Position

We are looking for a Cook to join us at the Pierce County Jail in Tacoma, WA. The Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing a variety of food items in accordance with work instructions, menus, and guidelines while following food safety procedures. The role requires experience in preparing hot and cold foods, managing multiple tasks, and communicating effectively with team members to produce dishes in a timely manner.

Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities

• Refers to Daily Prep List and completes checklists
• Prepares ingredients and sets up workstation
• Uses kitchen utensils and equipment safely
• Follows portion sizes, recipes, and standards
• Stores and labels products properly
• Maintains knowledge of menu items and food prep
• Handles physical demands such as lifting and standing for extended periods

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, at least 18 years old
• Minimum one year of cooking experience
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Experience in large-volume food service preferred
• Knowledge of safety procedures in food environments
