Job description

The Center for Courageous Kids (CCK) is a world-class camp serving children with serious illness and their families since February, 2008. Our year-round camp programs have served over 41,500 campers from 45 states and 13 countries. We serve children who typically would not be able to attend camp due to their illness and financial constraints. CCK provides respite and support for these children and their families and is designed exclusively for the use of an underserved and medically fragile population. The children and families who attend CCK are able to experience activities like horseback riding, boating, fishing, rock climbing, and bowling with no limitations or barriers. CCK family retreats and summer camp sessions are offered at NO COST to the children and families we serve.

The Center for Courageous Kids, Scottsville, Kentucky, has an immediate opening for a full-time Cook. This individual will assist in food preparation, proper sanitation, and cleanliness of all areas and equipment in the kitchen and dining hall. Be able to oversee and manage stewards and volunteers in a professional and kind manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be Serv-Safe Certified or able to successfully complete certification
• A minimum of one year culinary/cooking experience, using commercial kitchen equipment is preferred
• Detail-oriented, possessing the capabilities to manage all components of food service routine simultaneously
• Ability to work hard, follow directions, must have excellent sanitation and time management skills, and be self-motivated
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and summer
• Ability to read and write fluently in English
• Minimum age of 18
• Physical strength to lift, load, and unload up to 50 pounds, sweep, mop, etc.
• Stamina to stand and work for an 8-hour shift with allowed breaks. On rare occasions, overtime may be required
