Cedarhurst of St. Charles, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a Cook at our Cedarhurst of St. Charles community. This position requires weekend availability.
As a Cook, you will have the opportunity to connect with, and positively impact the lives of, our residents daily! You will provide a top-notch dining experience for our residents and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving of foods as indicated on the menu cycle and standardized recipes.
- Taste and prepare food to determine quality.
- Prepare all special dietary needs as directed by the Dining Services Director and/or menus assigned.
- Determine food and supplies needed and coordinate meal production with serving hours.
- Assist with proper documentation of temperature logs, taste panel forms, and cleaning schedules.
- Assist with orientation and training of new kitchen staff.
- Handle food in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures.
- Attend all in-services as required.
- Maintain safety standards as outlined by Cedarhurst of St. Charles guidelines for infection control.
- Utilize basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Maintain appropriate food temperatures by ensuring proper cooling/heating procedures are followed and equipment is working properly.
- Stay current with all food safety licensing requirements for FDA, state, county, and local authorities, and ensure all guidelines are adhered to.
- Communicate effectively with residents’ families regarding residents’ care, including physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.
- Work well with others, take direction from management, and engage in conflict intervention and resolution as needed.
- Perform physical tasks such as standing, moving, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently, and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and previous experience.
- At least one (1) year of experience as a cook preferred.
- Applicable state/county licensure.
- Food Manager Certification required or ability to obtain.
- CPR or BLS certification preferred.
- Proficiency in Internet browsers (e.g., Explorer, Chrome, Firefox), Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher), electronic health records (EHR) systems, and HR systems if applicable.
