Allegro Winter Park is hiring a Cook to join our dining team in a welcoming assisted living community in Harrington Park, NJ. The role is full-time, 11:30am to 8pm, with Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

You’ll prepare fresh, nutritious meals that delight residents and guests while upholding recipes, budgets and safety standards. The ideal candidate has 1+ year cooking experience, is detail‑oriented, and can work well with residents and staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexible/adaptable with strong time management and teamwork.
  • Current manager’s level food handler permit.
  • Positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • Adherence to Drug Free Workplace policy.
  • One year cooking experience preferred.
  • Some software/computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare delicious and attractive meals for residents and guests.
  • Supervise the kitchen under the Dining Services Director and Lead Cook.
  • Prepare high quality meals per recipes, budget and company policies.
  • Wash dishes and maintain kitchen equipment; monitor temps and cleanliness.
  • Interact with residents in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

The primary responsibility of the Cook is to prepare food of the highest quality and taste for residents and guests of the Community ensuring that the food presentation enhances the dining experience of the residents and guests.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented making each meal service an exceptional occasion.
  • Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director (DSD) and Chef/Lead Cook.
  • Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes. Consistently adhere to the standard recipes, the budgeted costs and Company policies.
  • Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils. Properly maintain all kitchen equipment. Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease.
  • Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be flexible/adaptable, pay attention to detail, and have a sense of teamwork.
  • Must possess good time management skills and a keen awareness of safety.
  • Must possess current manager’s level food handler permit.
  • Must have positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • The Community is a drug free workplace; associates are subject to adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year related cooking experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Some software and computer skills preferred.
