Elderwood Administrative Services is looking for a dedicated Cook to join our full-time team at Elderwood SNF in New York. You’ll prepare nutritious meals for residents, follow rotating menus, and ensure meals meet dietary needs and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food preparation experience required.
• Ability to understand and organize food preparation activities.
• Knowledge of food preparation and production process.
• High degree of cleanliness and good hygiene; health status suitable for service of food.
• Respect for residents’ privacy and rights; respectful and dignified treatment of residents required.
• Reading/writing/speaking English at intermediate level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and production sheets to determine quantities for regular, mechanically altered and other diet needs.
• Prepare specified food items, as assigned.
• Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples.
• Ensure sanitation and safety standards are met in the prep and production stages.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of equipment and kitchen area.
• Supervise food being cooked; ensure food is held and served at correct temperature.
• Assist with preparation and distribution of foodstuffs.

Position Overview

• Meal times are highlights of daily life, and excellent nutrition and appetite appeal are central to the well-being of residents and patients. Our chefs, wait staff and kitchen staff prepare and serve delicious, wholesome menus.
• Cook for our residents with weekly rotating menus. Work from our recipes.

Responsibilities
