RECRUITMENT RANGE $40,000.00

Do you love crafting delicious meals that bring people together? Are you a pro at keeping things clean, fresh, and flavorful? We’re looking for a creative and passionate Cook to join our kitchen crew at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) in beautiful Ocracoke, NC!


We are looking for someone who..

  • Loves working with food and know your way around a commercial kitchen.
  • Believes meals should be beautifully presented, perfectly seasoned, and served with a smile.
  • A team player, but also confident running the show when needed.
  • Cleanliness and organization are part of your culinary DNA.
  • Loves to plan, keep track of inventory, and make smart purchasing decisions.
  • Thrives in a dynamic setting where schedules vary and every day brings a new delicious challenge.

We need someone who is…

  • A Food Prep Master: Experience cooking for large groups and understanding raw food portioning.
  • Sanitation Savvy: Familiar with NC food safety codes and ServSafe standards (certification required within 6 months).
  • An Equipment Pro: Skilled with commercial kitchen tools like kettles, steamers, slicers, fryers, and mixers.
  • A Recipe Follower + Flavor Innovator: Able to read and follow recipes while bringing your own flair to the plate.
  • A Great Communicator: Able to take instructions and give them when it’s your turn to lead.

Requirements:

  • ServSafe Certification required within the first six months of employment.
  • Valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
