Meriwether Godsey is seeking a Full-time Cook for George School in Newtown, PA. You will prepare, cook, and present meals for daily service and events, following recipes and quality standards.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 6a–2p with weekend work as needed. Requirements include a high school diploma, ServSafe certification (or within 6 months), and the ability to pass an FBI background check and skills assessment.

• ServSafe certification required or obtainable within 6 months.
• Experience with high-volume food service operations, preferably in school environments.
• Ability to pass FBI background check.
• Ability to pass a skills assessment.
• Flexibility to switch between locations and duties.

Responsabilités

• Participate in preparation, cooking, and portioning of large quantities of food.
• Prepare items in batches close to serving time to maintain quality.
• Follow recipes and suggest changes to improve products.
• Cook and store foods at required temperatures and maintain safety.
• Record temperatures and food safety information.
• Maintain records of production, attendance, and leftovers.
• Assist with organization and sanitation of storage areas.
• Attend production meetings daily and provide input.
• Perform duties in line with food safety best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $21.00 To $21.00 Hourly

Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Full-time Cook responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of daily meals and special events at George School, a boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12 in Newtown, PA.

• Must be able to work as follows: Monday-Friday, 6a-2p, including weekends

What the Cook will do:

• Participate in the preparation, cooking, and portioning of large quantities of meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, cereals, soups, sauces, fruits, bread, desserts, and other food items
• Prepare items in batches as close to serving time as possible to ensure quality and limit over-production using good judgment in timing to ensure service without interruption
• Follow recipes and recommend changes in recipes and cooking methods to improve products and ensure the highest quality food preparation and presentation
• Cook, maintain, and store all foods at/to the required temperatures
• Take and record temperatures, following all required food handling and sanitation standards to ensure food safety
• Maintain accurate records of production amounts, attendance & left-over amounts to assist in efficient forecasting information
• Assist with the organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and storerooms: all items covered, labeled, and dated
• Attend production meetings daily, offering input concerning leftover utilization, efficiency, product quality, etc.
• Perform all duties in accordance with food safety and sanitation best practices
• Other duties, as assigned

What the Cook will need:

• Must be able to pass an FBI background check
• Pass a skills assessment
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience as a cook desired; production kitchen or contract dining experience ( 2-4 prior experience preferred)
• ServSafe® Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
• Experience with high-volume food service operations, preferably in school environments
• Ability to measure products and convert units of measure
• High levels of professionalism, strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility; ability to switch between locations and job duties
