Job summary

Cypress Garden Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation is seeking a reliable Cook to join our dietary team in Queens, NY. The role requires preparing meals for residents and staff in a healthcare setting, while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to work quickly in a fast-paced environment, and possesses knife skills and English communication abilities. Full-Time and Part-Time shifts available. Pay rate is $24.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and communicate in English.
• Minimum of 1 year cooking experience in a skilled nursing facility or hospital setting preferred.
• Experience cooking in large quantities and using commercial kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of safe food temperatures and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare meals for residents and staff in accordance with recipes, production sheets, and scheduled meal times

• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and storage guidelines

• Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure compliance with safety standards

• Keep kitchen areas clean, organized, and inspection-ready

• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while multitasking effectively

Requirements:

• Ability to cook and prepare meals independently

• Strong knife skills and knowledge of proper food handling techniques

• Ability to read and communicate in English

• Knowledge of safe food temperatures and sanitation standards

• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure

• Minimum of 1 year cooking experience in a skilled nursing facility or hospital setting (preferred)
