Position Summary

Full-Time Position. The Cook performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department, including preparing meals correctly and timely, supervising staff, and being accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Cook oversees and supports the staff.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or Culinary Tech Graduate.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes, production sheets, diet orders, tray tickets, and employee responsibilities.
  • Willingness to learn computer software for resident information and preferences.
  • Serve Safe Certified or able to earn certification within the first 90 days.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and portion hot and cold menu items according to recipes and production sheets.
  • Serve resident meals according to scheduled times.
  • Cover for staff absences due to illness.
  • Record food and equipment temperatures.
  • Engage with residents and staff to ensure satisfaction and proper service.
  • Maintain sanitation standards per health regulations.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work flexible hours as needed.
  • Track inventory, communicate with the Dietary Manager, and place orders when supplies are low.
  • Label, wrap, and date unused food items appropriately.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Support Pollak Innovation Management and facility policies and procedures.
In the absence of the Dietary Manager, additional duties include:
  • Ensuring staff clock in on time.
  • Disciplining staff as needed.
  • Conducting daily huddle meetings for communication and direction.
