Position Summary:

The Cook performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department, including preparing meals correctly and timely, supervising employee staff, and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Cook oversees and supports the staff.

Duties:

1. The Cook works under the direction of the Dietary Manager and is responsible for daily activities such as:

• Preparing and portioning hot and cold menu items according to recipes and production sheets.
• Serving resident meals according to scheduled times.
• Covering for staff who call out due to illness.
• Recording food and equipment temperatures.
• Interacting with residents and staff to ensure satisfaction and proper service.
• Maintaining sanitation standards per health regulations.
• Practicing a clean and safe work environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Tracking inventory and communicating supply needs.
• Labeling, wrapping, and dating unused food items.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Supporting Pollak Innovation Management and facility policies.

In the absence of the Dietary Manager, additional responsibilities include:

• Ensuring staff clock in on time.
• Disciplining staff as needed.
• Conducting daily staff meetings.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or Culinary Tech certification.
• Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, diet orders, tray tickets, and employee responsibilities.
• Willingness to learn computer software related to resident information.
• Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
