Cook Full-Time Dierbergs Markets

Deli/Seafood Cooks work as a part of the Deli/Seafood team, with an emphasis on cooking. The majority of their shift is spent cooking, but can also fulfill Deli/Seafood Associate duties:


  1. Prepare and cook products in warm kitchen with temperature of oil and ovens up to 500 degrees.
  2. Follow safe food handling guidelines whenever preparing food, according to S.A.F.E. program standards.
  3. Maintain appropriate temperatures and avoid cross-contamination throughout production and storage.
  4. Have strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures/guidelines.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to work safely and adhere to safety standards.
  6. Learn and promote our astounding variety of deli and seafood products.
  7. Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  8. Work in varied temperature-controlled environments (refrigerator, freezer, and hot food preparation).
  9. Provide exceptional customer service that goes above and beyond.
  10. Learn and promote our variety of deli and seafood products and use suggestive selling techniques.
  11. Operate and clean equipment safely according to training procedures, by reading warnings, and following instruction manuals (i.e., knives, slicers, fryers, rotisseries, smoker, skewers, ovens, frying pans, hot case, microwave oven, rair oven, steamer, chicken warmer and case, hot food warmer, wrappers, cheese grater, and scales).
  12. Prepare party tray orders, following directions from food specification book or order form.
  13. Weigh, wrap, and label products using digital and manual scales.
  14. Cut meats and cheeses using electric slicers according to training manual and customer requests.
  15. Fill serving bowls with ready-made deli salads, and place in deli counter case.
  16. Rotate products and check expiration dates.

Essentials

  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures/guidelines.
  3. Read and locate basic information from food specifications books, follow recipes, charts, invoices, and temperature gauges.
  4. Basic computer, math, and measurement skills (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversions, and percentages).
  5. Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
  6. Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule.
  7. Adherence to our dress code, appearance, and personal hygiene standards.
  8. A Hepatitis A vaccination (MO only).
  9. May be cross-trained in other departments.

Physical Requirements

  1. Lifting & Carrying - Up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  2. Pushing & Pulling - Up to 20 lbs force occasionally.
  3. Occasional - Sit, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, climb, overhead reach, & shovel.
  4. Frequent - Head turn, trunk bend, side reach, grasp, power grip, pinch, finger manipulation, & feel.
  5. Constant - Forward reach, standing, & handling.
