Job summary

Kennesaw State University is seeking a Food Prep team member on the Marietta campus. You will assist with all aspects of food preparation, read recipes, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. You may work in front or back of house as needed by business demands.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • ServSafe certification or certification within 12 months of hire.
  • 1 year of experience in food handling in retail, food service, bakery, warehouse, or grocery establishment or completion of a qualified culinary program.
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in related field preferred; culinary degree/certificate also preferred.

  • Cleans and preps fresh produce.
  • Preps and cooks raw ingredients following safety guidelines.
  • Gathers, weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for recipes.

Job Summary

Assists with all aspects of food preparation as part of the culinary team. Assists with gathering food items, reading recipes, and constructing food items. Ensures quality controls and recipe standardization are in compliance with approved standards. Monitors and enforces food sanitization and safety standards. Based on business need and as directed by the leader, may work in front or back of house operations.

  • Maintains and operates equipment according to approved safety standards
  • Stores food properly and safely, following established guidelines marking the date and item, etc.
  • Acts as a lead in the absence of the lead role, at the direction of leadership
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications

ServSafe certified or obtains certification within twelve (12) months of hire

Required Experience

One (1) year of experience working in food handling at a retail, food service, bakery, warehouse or grocery establishment or the successful completion of a qualified culinary program.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications

An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Culinary degree or certificate from a culinary arts program

Preferred Experience

Previous experience working in a food service establishment, restaurant or large‑scale production kitchen

Proposed Salary
