Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Flint Hills Job Corps Center in Manhattan, KS, and seeks staff to prepare center meals per pre-planned menus while complying with government and management directives.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, ServSafe/Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and at least one year of food handling experience; CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• ServSafe/Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• ServSafe/Food Handler Manager Certification preferred.
• One (1) year experience as a food handler.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare center meals in accordance with pre-planned menus and government directives.
• Instruct cook helpers and work-based learning students in safe, hygienic meal preparation.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and keep work area safe, clean and sanitary at all times.
• Prepare foods for special center functions, visitors and off-center assignments.
• Assist in cleaning assignments to support cafeteria operations.
• Manage stockroom commodities and suggest replenishment items.
• Promote and support positive customer service within the facility.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

ServSafe/Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days

ServSafe/Food Handler Certification Manager Certification preferred

Schedule – Full Time, 8hr shifts, days vary Sunday 9 am to 6 pm; Monday to Wednesday 9:30 am to 6:30 pm; Thursday 6:00 am to 3:00 pm - Days off are Friday and Saturday

Education And Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• ServSafe/Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days. ServSafe/Food Handler Manager Certification preferred.
• One (1) year experience as a food handler.
