The Department of Health Services (DHS), Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is recruiting for a Cook. CWC provides short-term and long-term residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the north side of Madison.

This position will work 9:15am – 5:45pm. Work hours may include weekends, holidays, early mornings or early evenings, and overtime as needed.
As a Cook at CWC, you will prepare, modify, identify, distribute and store fresh, frozen, and dry food items according to requirements and standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining orderliness and cleanliness in food preparation areas and assist in any area as necessary.
Pay for this position is $19.95 per hour, plus excellent benefits. In addition, there is a weekend differential of $0.80 per hour for all weekend hours worked and a night differential of $0.80 per hour for all night hours worked.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Cook 2 and is in pay schedule and range 03/11. A 12-month probationary period is required.
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
