Job summary

The Bluefields is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team and prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. You will work with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure meals are served on time, meet dietary requirements, and maintain a sanitary environment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, prior cooking experience in senior living or healthcare, and a strong knowledge of food safety.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring nutritious, appetizing dishes.
  • Meal Service: Ensure meals are served timely with quality and portion control.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Keep kitchen clean, sanitary, and properly stored.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with Dietary Manager and staff; assist in training new cooks.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory and report shortages.
  • Resident Engagement: Accommodate special dietary requests and preferences.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
  • Meal Service: Ensure meals are served in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality service. Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management and help track food supplies. Report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager.
  • Resident Engagement: Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents’ food preferences, ensuring satisfaction with meals served.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe food handling and proper sanitation practices.
