Job summary

Woodlake Estates Senior Living is hiring a Cook to provide nutritious meals in a supportive senior living environment. Maintain safe culinary practices, prepare meals per menu, and ensure cleanliness and proper food temperatures at all times.

The role requires experience in large-scale cooking and a Serv Safe certification or equivalent. Candidates should be able to adapt to early-morning or evening hours and assist with special events as needed.

Qualifications

• Cook/Dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care home or other related medical facility is preferred but not required.
• Experience cooking a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Food Handlers or Serv Safe certification.
• Experience with food preparation and nutrition.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe culinary environment in the facility using infection control procedures.
• Kitchen and equipment will be clean and organized at all times; maintain safe food temperatures according to regulations.
• Dishes will be cleaned and properly stored after every meal.
• Follow the provided food menu for nutritionally sound meals, with residents' needs and preferences in mind.
• Contact the Lead or Resident Services Manager to assist in Health Department inspections if they occur on your shift.
• Prepare and offer nourishing meals and snacks using as many non-processed foods as possible.
• Report shortages or needs of snacks or meal ingredients to the Culinary Lead.
• Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to Culinary Lead immediately.
• May be asked to take extra shifts or help with special occasions.
• This may include early-morning or evening hours.
