Job summary

All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough is seeking a dedicated cook to join our culinary team in Hillsborough, NJ. You will prepare meals for residents, following established menus and dietary requirements while maintaining high food safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, senior living, or similar food service environment.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and food safety practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes, menus, and production schedules.
  • Ability to prepare meals for individuals with different dietary needs.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to (lifting requirement) pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, menus, and production schedules.
  • Ensure meals are prepared on time and meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, infection-control, and kitchen safety requirements.
  • Prepare meals that accommodate residents’ dietary needs, restrictions, and preferences.
  • Review menus and production sheets before meal preparation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen.
  • Properly label, date, rotate, and store food and ingredients.
  • Monitor food temperatures and complete required documentation.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and maintaining food supplies.
  • Monitor inventory and notify the supervisor when supplies are needed.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly.
  • Work closely with Dining Services staff to support smooth meal service.
  • Assist with special events, holiday meals, and resident programs as needed.
  • Complete additional kitchen and food service duties as assigned
