Key Position Details

• Part‑time, union, benefit‑eligible cook
• 0.5 FTE (40 hours in two‑week pay period)
• 8‑hour day or evening shift
• Every other weekend rotation
• Hours per week: 20
• Union contract: SEIU‑4 Regina Service Workers‑SRM

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in a timely, appealing and appetizing manner
  • Use standardized recipes and proper cooking methods for patients, staff and special functions
  • Ensure adequate quantities of food based on patient need and cafeteria volumes
  • Understand special diets and consult with dietitian as needed
• Use proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety
  • Check temperatures regularly prior to serving food
  • Label, date, cover and store food properly
  • Utilize sanitizing techniques for food, self and equipment
• Assist with restocking work station
  • Put away grocery orders
  • Operate cash register
  • Assist with menu development
  • Maintain adequate food stock to meet menu requirements and patient requests
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Associate's or Vocational degree in the culinary field
• 0 to 2 years of food service experience

Licenses/Certifications

• Certification for Food Safety and Handling upon hire preferred

Physical Demands

• Medium work: lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $20.43 to $25.75 per hour. Your starting rate depends on experience, education and the union agreement. Shift, weekend and other differentials may increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
